Balancing your hormones during your perimenopause & menopause has a lot to do with what you eat.
As a nurse, I know it's easy to drop the ball when it comes to healthy eating. We've been led to believe that it's all about eating our veggies and doing cardio. But the truth is that after the age of 30, women will begin to lose about 8% of their muscle mass by decade, and it tends to get worse with the hormone shifts that happen in perimenopause and menopause! Enter fatigue, slower metabolism, reduced strength, and (you guessed it) cortisol spikes, which by itself comes with a whole lot of issues.
The way to stop this from happening is eating enough protein to sustain our muscle mass, along with strength-building exercise.
